Why Become a CFBC Member?

  • The CFBC Internet Directory Website provides provincial, national, and international exposure. Members can "hotlink" their own web page to the CFBC web page. The CFBC website is used to post the current newsletter and communicate upcoming events of importance to CFBC members.
  • The CFBC advocates to government agencies on behalf of its members to ensure equitable access to upcoming projects. These efforts also build recognition for CFBC members in these key agencies, which include the Ministry of Forests, the Ministry of Water, Air and Land Protection, the Ministry of Sustainable Resource Management, and the Forest Practices Board.
  • The CFBC promotes the advantages of using CFBC members to the Council of Forest Industries, logging and lumberman associations, the Western Silviculture Contractors Association as well as forest companies and other forestry related groups and associations.
  • The CFBC has representation on ABCFP Council and key committees providing CFBC members' input on issues affecting them, including professional accountability, continuing education, and joint practice boards.
  • The CFBC pro-actively follows a range of issues considered by various government committees. The CFBC makes presentations to address those issues that may affect CFBC members, such as performance standards in contracts, equitable tender evaluations, and compliance with new regulations.
  • The quarterly CFBC newsletter informs members of current and upcoming issues and events the CFBC is addressing. It provides a forum to exchange information and express member viewpoints.
  • The CFBC maintains links with other associations, such as national and international forestry consulting associations and the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, and through the newsletter and meetings keeps the membership current.
  • The CFBC facilitates networking among its members, creating joint venture opportunities and the opportunity to share and learn from each other.
  • New members receive a CFBC membership scroll that is mounted and framed for their office.
  • CFBC members enjoy the opportunity to obtain extended health, medical and dental employee benefits through a plan specifically designed for CFBC members, and the potential for exemption from the BC Employment Standards Act.
